The Best Beans
On Easter morning, we awoke to overflowing baskets. The Bunny knows us well, so our loot included plenty of jelly beans. Not ordinary jelly beans, but Jelly Belly beans.
The Jelly Belly history dates back to 1869 when the Goelitz brothers came to the US and started a candy factory. But it was almost one hundred years before they began to produce jelly beans. Ronald Reagan became a fan while he was Governor of California and they traveled with him to the White House. The blueberry Jelly Belly was created so that Reagan could serve red, white and blue jelly beans at his inaugural parties. Jelly Belly also holds the honor of being the first jelly bean in outer space.
These quality jelly beans come in a wide variety of flavors. One category, the Harry Potter inspired BeanBoozled, includes Toothpaste, Dog Food, Rotten Egg and Skunk Spray flavored beans. I'm not that adventurous, but there are plenty of other flavors to choose from. If you haven't guessed by now, Grandma's favorite jelly bean flavors are the subject of today's list.

I suppose the nearest we have in the UK to these are Jelly Babies. Everyone begins by biting off their heads. It's just some ghoulish thing deep within us, I suppose.
ReplyDeletecarmael corn I'll have some sandy
ReplyDeleteLove Jelly Belly Beans! Favorite - buttered popcorn.
ReplyDeleteMmmmmmmm, I've never tried caramel corn flavor, and I DO love caramel.
ReplyDeleteHere is MY Thursday 13. You'll need to scroll down below my Thursday Thunks to view them. Do stop by for a visit if you can find time. Hope your day is super.
Oh my, never been much of a jelly bean fan. But I am glad you have them to enjoy (and blueberry sounds good even though I have never had one).
ReplyDeleteooooh, #4 cinnamon has my vote! My goodness, though, tangerine and lemon Lime are sounding pretty yummy too! What is a girl to do?
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great T13! Mine's at
http://allisonians.blogspot.com/ I don't know how to attach a real link to these comments {yet}, my apologies!

Fun T13. I'll never forget the day that my son talked my father-in-law into trying the HP jelly bellies. It was hilarious. And I'm not that adventurous either.
ReplyDeleteI've enjoyed the popcorn flavored bean in my past- pre diet life.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!

I can't remember which brand Pres. Reagan favored but they had the coolest flavors and were so expensive! Blueberry's my favorite too.
ReplyDeleteI too love cinnamon Jelly Bellys
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of jelly beans I think Pres. Reagan too. Sounds like interesting flavors. Licorice is about all I think I would like though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. Happy TT! :)
P.S. I like your background on your blog ♥
Thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteThis is a great TT list! I don't fancy jellybeans myself, but the flavors do look fantastic!
I've never been a big fan of any jelly bean, but Jelly Bellies are the best, and well qualified to make something as quirky as the Harry Potter ones.
ReplyDeleteI came by earlier today, but my computer at work would not let me leave a comment! Have you ever tasted the "dirt" or "ear wax" jelly bellies? They had those in the Harry Potter collection. Ewww! But popcorn... that one is good!
ReplyDeleteI remember the "ear wax" ones in Harry Potter, but I'd never try them. Talk about disgusting!
ReplyDeleteI love the S'mores flavor.
ReplyDeleteA few years ago I was fortunate enough to be visiting Fairfield, CA where a JB plant is. I had a tour. Wow! That is one amazing place. I bought more JB than any one person should ever buy at one time. But they made great gifts.
Not that big on jelly beans, but I do like the pina colada flavored ones. Thanks for visiting!
ReplyDeleteHi Grandma,
ReplyDelete(I adored your pun about yellowing teeth, BTW, on my T-13 post last wk!). I'm not sure if I've had this brand of jellybeans, but the times I've had delicious jellybeans have been a real treat. I'm salivating at the thought. Glad you indulged your taste buds w/ your family. Great tradition. From your list, I'd like #1,2, 3,4,5,7, and 13.
Some of them are Harry Potter inspired? Now I'm interested. I think I'd like nos. 8, 12 and 13. Neither did I know there was a degree in Beanology; learned a few things here. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteJelly Belly beans really are the best.
ReplyDeleteI have to have some lol Some of those flavors sounds absolutely yummy. Happy T13!
ReplyDeleteI get a kick out of that anecdote on Ronald Reagan. It just recently came to my knowledge through something on the History Channel. Fun list! My favorite is the buttered popcorn. Yum!
ReplyDeleteMmmm. Buttered popcorn Jelly Bellys....
ReplyDeleteI'm in heaven, just thinking about them.
my personal favorite is to eat the pineapple and coconut at the same time, it is like having a pinacolada in my mouth
ReplyDeletecaramel corn is making my mouth water!
ReplyDeleteNot Afraid
