Reverend Jackson Pruitt had practiced what he preached. Penelope Pruitt carried the physical and emotional scars of learning right from wrong at the hands of a father, who believed that shades of grey were the rationalizations of sinners.

Penelope’s nights are spent in a terrifying dream world, where blood provides the only relief in a grey kaleidoscope of charred walls, melting bodies and black holes.
When the parsonage burns to the ground, a catatonic Penelope is found nearby, clutching a gasoline can. Charged with arson and the premeditated murder of her father, she is deemed unfit to stand trial and remanded to a psychiatric facility.

Clinical psychiatrist, Gloria Amherst, battles with mixed feelings as she helps Penelope unravel the truth that lies between her waking and sleeping worlds.
Will their journey set Penelope free or sentence her to death row?

On Easter morning, we awoke to overflowing baskets. The Bunny knows us well, so our loot included plenty of jelly beans. Not ordinary jelly beans, but Jelly Belly beans. The Jelly Belly history dates back to 1869 when the Goelitz brothers came to the US and started a candy factory. But it was almost one hundred years before they began to produce jelly beans. Ronald Reagan became a fan while he was Governor of California and they traveled with him to the White House. Yesterday was National Pancake day.  Hope you enjoyed some.  If not, it's never too late.  This versatile food tastes great and costs little to make.  That's reason enough to celebrate in the current economy.   We frequently enjoy them as an evening meal.  My granddaughter calls it "breakfast for supper".  Give it a try.
